How to Push Yourself in Your Workout ?
We are all looking for ways to improve our approach to exercise. If we learn how to push ourselves, this means that we will be able to gain more from each session, and this will enable us to reach our goals more efficiently.
Exercise for Longer
The first thing to try and do is to exercise for a greater amount of time. Although this might seem obvious, it is the simplest way to push ourselves, and we will achieve more in the long term if we try to do this. If you lead a busy life that means that you’re not able to increase your exercise sessions, then it would work just as well to exercise more quickly. If you run for example, you should increase your pace, and therefore cover more ground. The effort will bring rewards, and you will be able to make note of these as time goes by.
No Leaning!
Thre is always the temptation to lean on the machines that you are using, therefore putting your body weight on them rather than having to carry it yourself. If you stop doing this, you should discover that you find your workout much more difficult, and this will mean that you’re likely to gain a greater amount from each of your sessions than you might have done in the past.
Up The Resistance
If you are lifting weights, then there are several things that you can do to push yourself. The first is that you should try to increase the weight that you’re lifting. If you can lift a weight comfortably, then you should try adding a little more until you find that you’re struggling. In addition to this, changing the position that you’re standing in whilst lifting the weights can increase the amount of effort that you have to put into the lift. Even something as simple as changing the way that you’re holding the bar can cause you to work harder, and this means that you would get better results.
Mix it Up!
Many people find that they’re doing the same types of exercise every workout. If you feel that this is you, try changing the type of exercise every so often. This means that you are able to work different muscle groups rather than only improving certain areas, and would therefore be able to make more progress. Changing your exercises every now and again so that you are running instead of swimming or maybe trying our a completley new sport such as triathlon will pay dividends in the long run.
It is always important to ensure that you’re moving forward with your fitness and, although it can be tempting to do what you know that you can cope with, pushing yourself can be helpful for your overall fitness.
